Robert

Robert Short

Joint Venture Partner and Veterinary Surgeon

Robert was born in England, but grew up in South Africa where he qualified as a Veterinarian at Onderstepoort in 1985. Upon graduating, he joined the South African National Defence Force where he served for almost 20 years, the last twelve in the post of Director of Animal Health. During this time he obtained a Masters Degree in Veterinary Medicine, and registered with the South African Veterinary Council as a specialist in small animal internal medicine. He also obtained an MBA with a dissertation on strategic management.

His particular interests lie in endocrinology and nephrology in dogs and cats, and he has a keen interest in the business side of the practice. He is married to Sheryl, who is the Practice Manager at Crayford, and has two grown children and two grandchildren, all of whom still live in South Africa.

Robert joined Crayford as a Joint Venture Partner on 1 April 2004.

Alicja Cicio

Alicja graduated in 2002 from the Academy of Agriculture in Lublin, Poland. After graduation, she spent six months in mixed animal practice before moving to small animal practice and working in various veterinary hospitals in Poland.

Alicja has been living in the UK since 2005 and enjoys working with small animals, she joined Companion Care Crayford in 2007 and became a Joint Venture Partner in February 2012.

In her free time, Alicja enjoys reading science fiction and fantasy books and travelling. Alice has two pet cats called Paco and Indi.

Zuzana

Zuzana Piliarikova

Veterinary Surgeon

Zuzana qualified as a vet in Slovakia in 2008. She spent some time working as a supervisor of ecology in the capital city of Slovakia, before moving to the Czech Republic in 2009 where she spent most of her time in small animal practice. After working in a practice in Prague she then to move to Cyprus to gain further three years of experience.

Zuzana joined us at Companion Care Crayford in May 2015. She is still gaining knowledge in all aspects of veterinary medicine.

In her spare time, Zuzana enjoys travelling, reading and meeting with friends.

Uldri is our newest vet to join the Crayford team and calls South Africa her home. She qualified as a veterinarian in 2018 in South Africa and spent her first year as a vet in a rural village tending to livestock and some companion animals. She has recently decided to make the move to the UK to further her experience in small animal medicine and surgery. She has a keen interest in surgery and primary animal health care.

In her free time, she enjoys being outdoors exploring new places and spending quality time with her partner.

Tara started working at Companion Care Crayford in February 2000 as a weekend assistant, she has subsequently qualified and is now Head Veterinary Nurse. Tara is also a Clinical Coach and is responsible for student nurse training.

Leanne graduated from the Royal Veterinary College in June 2012. She joined Companion Care in 2010 as a Student Veterinary Nurse, and remained with us after qualifying. Leanne’s favourite part of the job is caring for out inpatients.

On her days off, Leanne enjoys cooking and regularly attends Comicons!

Harry has an interest in all animals but particularly exotics. At home he has a pet dog called Denzel and a snake called Ghost.

Caroline Horler

Caroline is our locum Veterinary Nurse who has been working alongside us on a regular basis since October 2018. She finished her training as RVN in 2000 and has worked in a large variety of practices including first opinion, emergency and referrals. 

Alongside nursing, Caroline also runs her own dog walking and pet sitting service and has a very special rescued French Bulldog called Clara.

Tasha Wilson

Tasha qualified as an RVN in 2015 but have been working in the veterinary world for 15 years. She loves veterinary nursing and has a keen interest in nutrition and behavior. Tasha is very passionate about animal welfare and enjoys cooking lots of tasty vegan meals at home.  In her spare time she loves getting outdoors and spending time with her 2 kids and 10 year old rescue dog, Poppy.

At home Chris has a pet dog called Ebby and two guinea pigs. When injured birds are bought into the practice, it is often Chris that takes them home to nurse back to health.
